Because I haven't posted in awhile....

Ok so some people (Leah!!!) are wondering why it has been so long since I have blogged and to be honest I just have not had the time...Things are crazy at my house and work well its always crazy at work!!! Gage is keeping us very busy with baseball and he was just asked to be on the select baseball team again this year and he is super pumped about that...They are having their first practice tonight but unfortunately he is very sick right now so we aren't letting him go....He tells us this morning "I want to (cough, cough, cough) go to (cough, cough, cough) practice today...." Needless to say we are on his s*it list because we aren't letting him go to the 3 + hour practice...He needs to rest but doesn't understand that..Anyway, Gage has hit 6 home runs thus far and there are 3 games left so hopefully he can get to 10! We are so proud of him...So we had Renly's 4th birthday party last weekend and the weather was terrible so EVERYONE was in my house...Those of you who know me know how I feel about people being in my house...To put it mildly I was NOT thrilled that everyone ended up in the house...However Renly had a wonderful time and she got a lot of neat stuff so that made it ok!!! We had family pictures taken two weeks ago by my wonderful friend LaRae and I will post those shortly...Brady is busy farming of course and getting ready to put cotton in the ground, planning on having the most cotton we have ever had and he is venturing into new territory and planting sesame so that should be interesting...Can't wait to see what that ends up looking like in the field....I am heading to Orlando, FL next week for a Department of Defense Security Conference with one of my coworkers so I am looking forward to that...Got my script for my drugs to knock me out on the plane so no worries there...Poor Penny will probably have to carry me off the plane...I think that about wraps things up...Pretty much all we are doing right now is baseball, baseball and more baseball....Busy, busy summer already...Gage's schedule is booked till the 2nd week of July...How does this happen when he is only 8!!!

Ladies Trip to Dallas

These are my very aching feet after a long day of shopping...I had to buy these flip flops at the Limited Too Store (for those of you with no kids that is a little girls store, I was desperate)
This would be Amy and JJ before we started our shopping at the mall..

Me and Amy at Joe's after a very long day..

Amy shortly after arriving at the hotel..

Me and Amy at the Cheesecake Factory

Me at the hotel shortly after arriving

I know, I know I haven't blogged in awhile but things have been a bit crazy around my house....I took my best friend of 33 years, Amy to Dallas for her birthday and a dear friend of ours , JJ (well know she goes by Jennifer) from high school flew in from New Orleans to help us celebrate. We had the most wonderful time, although the most exciting thing was watching Amy drive...I am still trying to figure out why she doesn't go home the same way she comes in...I enlightened here that there is a shorter way to go home instead of driving all the way through downtown Ft. Worth, can you say nightmare! So I am posting a few pics from the trip..

We are heading to Midland tomorrow for the Girls Regional Basketball Tournament where our Lady Haws will face Shallowater in the first round of Regionals we are hoping to be there on Saturday for the final game as well and more hopeful that we will be traveling to Austin next week for the State Tournament but only time will tell...Wish our Lady Hawks Luck...

Lasik Update

It has now been a week and 1.5 days and my vision continues to improve...Still having some issues with driving early in the morning right as the sun comes up and then at night with the halos but it is only a matter of time before this improves as well...I am still trying to get used to being able to get out of bed and see and not having to fumble with my contacts for 20 minutes every morning...Man it is great and of course like Brady I wished I had done it many years ago...Happy seeing!

The Deed is Finally Done....

So after many many years of contemplating Lasik, I finally went and had it done yesterday.....It did help that Brady gave me a swift kick and said "go, go and do it!" After spending the first three hours with the doctor and having my eyes, numbed, un-numbed, dilated, un-dilated, numbed again and unnumbed, I finally am able to see without corrective lenses!!! It was an experience I must say....They bring you into this laser room at your said time, mine was 2:15 and they lay you down, and then proceed to numb your eyes yet again! Then the doctor says don't react to any noises as you start hearing all this equipment in the background, oh yeah right like I am not going to react to that then he tells me don't mind the smell, as I start smelling the flesh of my eyeball burning off and I am like ummm yeah ok, I won't react to that.....Given that I have been through this whole laser thing before when I had my tattoo removed the popping noise that the laser makes didn't bother me but I can see why it would bother some people....All and all I am very pleased with the results, currently seeing 20/25 due to my extremely dry eyes which I didn't know I had until yesterday. He told me that I was NOT the ideal type to be in contacts and that could explain all the problems that I have had for the past 15 years of wearing them!!!! If you are thinking of doing it, do it, it is very worth the money......Like Brady I wished I would have done it when he first told me to do it 3 years ago. Happy Seeing!

Peanut Butter Jelly - RIP October 2008 - December 2008

So we arrived home late on Saturday after a wonderful Christmas with family only to find that our new puppy Peanut Butter Jelly had been run over....The sheer disappointment on Gage's face was enough to break any mom's heart...And poor Renly she really doesn't know what is going on other than Peanut is now in heaven with Bebo, the first puppy we had this year that I accidentally ran over..Our only guess is that one of our hunter's accidentally ran over him...If only they would have moved him off the road so that Gage and Renly wouldn't have seen him...I am sure that is a sight that will forever be embedded in their head as it will mine...So Gage and Brady had the task of digging a hole in the freezing cold yesterday and laying our precious Peanut to rest down by our barn so that we can go and visit him ever now again...We are done with puppies for awhile...My brothers yellow lab is currently pregnant with pure bred yellow labs so I am guessing that he will give the kids one...

Cast Off Today, Yippy

Renly gets to say farewell to her bubble gum pink cast today....I can only imagine what is going to fall out of it when they cut it off she only stuffs rocks down it everyday at school....I will post pictures tomorrow of her free arm!

Getting home late....

I normally pull into my drive at 5:00 or 5:30 at the latest so I was already not very happy when it was dark (6:15) yesterday...You see we put our Christmas tree up on Sunday and then we put all the ornaments on it on Monday and I started a new family tradition last year...I take the kids to Hobby Lobby and let them pick out 3 ornaments that they can put on the tree...Well Renly bugged me all night on Monday that she wanted more ornaments so I told her that I would take her to Hobby Lobby after school on Tuesday to pick out her ornaments...Now you must keep in mind she is 3 and she is very well how do I put it, picky...So you can only imagine how long it took her to pick out her ornaments when there was 6 aisles of them...Lord have mercy! But we got them picked out well we ended up with 6 rather than 3 but she was very happy...She even told me she wanted to pick one out for my very dear friend Amy and she took her dear sweet time picking out the perfect ornament for Amy...I can't wait to give it to her because she will know that it was picked by Renly and she can treasure it forever!! This little adventure that was supposed to take oh maybe 30 minutes turned into a 2 hour event, I can only imagine what she is going to be like when she gets older....Lord help me!
